The HP Omen Max was among the many products announced during CES 2025, after which it was released in the spring. This premium gaming laptop uses the latest silicon from Intel and Nvidia, including an Intel Ultra 9 CPU and RTX 5080 GPU, a potent combination that handles spreadsheets and creative workloads as easily as it does the latest AAA releases. Computer expert Charles Jefferies reviewed a similar HP Omen Max configuration with an OLED display and a more powerful RTX 5090 GPU. I’ll address the elephant in the room first: If you intend to game on the go, the HP Omen Max 16 is not the one. In testing, the battery life clocked in at around 2.5 hours, which might not even be enough time to watch a movie without needing to seek an outlet. That being said, during his review, Charles Jefferies gave it an “excellent” rating and said, “If you can find the Omen Max 16 on sale, it would serve you well as a desktop replacement.” Well, that sale is here, and there’s $1,060 in savings with your name on it.
