Intel Panther Lake Integrated GPU Offers Impressive Results for Gamers at CES

Intel’s beefy Arc B390 integrated graphics chip on its new Panther Lake Core Ultra X9 CPU is a very capable little chip. In new benchmarks on select laptops displayed at CES 2026, its new GPU managed over 80 FPS in the always-intense Cyberpunk 2077 at 1080p resolution.

As Tom’s Hardware reports, it did use XeSS upscaling, but the detail settings were on high, rather than low. If these results are easily replicated, next-generation laptops could be capable of 1080p AAA play at comfortable frame rates. Entry-level GPUs, watch out.

Panther Lake CPUs are considered more of a sideways move from Intel than a true next-gen design, but they’re proving more capable than expected. That’s especially true when it comes to graphics, with the new Xe3 cores of the B390 onboard GPU delivering impressive results.

In Baldur’s Gate 3, it managed 68 FPS average at a 1200P High preset, with XeSS at Quality. In Cyberpunk 2077, it hit 81 FPS, with the 1% lows just shy of 60 FPS. Doom: The Dark Ages was over 50 FPS at 1080P, High, and Balanced, while F1 2025 was as high as 110 FPS average at 1080P, High, and Balanced also.

In some pre-CES testing of our own, PCMag tried the MSI Prestige 14 Flip AI+ running the 12-core version of Intel’s integrated GPU. It’s a business laptop, but MSI let us use it try Cyberpunk 2077. We were not allowed to report frame rates (this was still an early laptop sample), but we can say the game was running at 1,600 by 1,200 and low settings, with frame generation on and XeSS Upscaling set to Auto. And it ran well.

All in all, an impressive array of results, suggesting it’s not a one-off outlier in a specific game. However, the important caveat is that this was all on show-floor laptops, conducted in specific conditions, with specific settings. The exhibitors knew the outcomes ahead of time and had prepared for them. Even then, though, these are pretty great, and make me far more excited for Panther Lake than I was originally.

It’s also important to remember that this is the top X9 388H chip we’re talking about here, not something more affordable or entry-level. So those buying flagship laptops with top CPUs might be able to do some lower-resolution gaming in their off-hours, rather than budget gamers scoring big FPS wins without dedicated graphics.

None of these laptops were using the new multi-frame generation feature Intel has touted. When the first of these laptops launch on Jan. 27, they’ll be able to boost FPS a lot more with frame gen, though that could affect latency and introduce new visual artifacts.

For all-in-one systems like the new Lenovo ThinkCenter designs, though, I’m especially intrigued. A big, quiet system with capable graphics for gaming and plenty of CPU power for everyday workloads? I could see a place for that in my home office.
