Chromebooks are slowly but steadily becoming a sustainable third party on the laptop scene, with Google’s Chrome OS seeing steady improvements. The defining trait of these portable PCs is that they leverage low-power components much more efficiently than Windows devices do, meaning you get a lot more bang for your buck, up to a point. Chromebooks are already affordable, but right now Best Buy is having a massive sale on a dozen of their most popular models. Here are three that are worth your time.

The absolute deepest discount of Best Buy’s Chromebook sale lets you slice 58% off of a serviceable Asus portable. While this laptop isn’t going to win any speed tests, with a ultra-budget component loadout, it’ll still carry everyday users through Web browsing, productivity work and even media streaming without breaking a sweat. Of course, you get all the usual Chromebook perks like lightning-fast startup and epic battery life as part of the package. We have a review of the CX14 Plus, which has more robust components inside the same casing, and found that version to be a bargain.

If you’re a regular PCMag reader, you know that we are extremely skimpy with the five-star reviews. A product has to be the absolute best in its class to receive the “Exemplary” rating, and the Acer Chromebook Plus Spin 714 is just that. Lenovo is well-known for high-end business laptops, but they do experiment in the Chromebook space as well, to solid results. We reviewed the IdeaPad Flex 3i, a Chromebook with a 360-degree hinge so you can use its touch screen as a tablet or tent display, and gave it high marks for a compact profile, good port selection and responsive display. Internally, its components are nothing to write home about, with a poky Intel N100 processor leading the charge, but it still benchmarked decently, and a 42% price drop makes it pretty attractive.
