I’ve Covered Prime Day for Years and These Are the Biggest Laptop Deals I’ve Found (So Far)

Amazon’s been cooking up some spicy laptop sales for Prime Day, with some surprisingly steep discounts this year. Most of the laptop deals we’ve seen so far are in the 15%-to-35%-off range, but when you’re shopping for a laptop that costs several hundred dollars, that’s substantial savings.

When you start looking at laptops that we’ve tested and recommended, you can find some serious money off some of the best laptops out there. From Apple MacBooks to Windows Copilot+ PCs with AI features, the savings are substantial, and I’ve even seen lightweight Chromebooks at their lowest prices yet. Act quickly, because these discounts won’t just go stale; they’ll sell out quickly and may be gone for good.

I’ve been reviewing laptops and watching deals for 16 years, so I can confidently say that Prime Day is one of the best opportunities all year to save a few bucks on a new laptop. Amazon’s laptop deals are sometimes slim pickings, but this year seems to have brought a bigger batch than usual. These are some of the best I’ve spotted so far, but keep an eye on our coverage all week for more.

Microsoft Surface Pro (Snapdragon X) Deal

The 2024 Microsoft Surface Pro is one of the best Windows tablets you can buy, an elite-class PC in an uncompromising 0.37-inch-thick design. With Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite 12-core processing inside, and a brilliant OLED touch screen on the outside, the Surface Pro remains the gold standard for tablet PCs.

The 165-degree friction kickstand on the back is one ergonomic highlight; the optional carbon-fiber-reinforced Flex Pro wireless keyboard and Surface Pen help this ultraslim tablet achieve near-full PC capability. But when we reviewed the Microsoft Surface Pro in 2024, we lamented that those excellent accessories didn’t come in the box with the tablet. They were add-ons at extra cost.

Now, thanks to Amazon’s massive 47% discount, the extra $450 it would cost to pick up those accessories is dwarfed by the $800 in savings. With a deal like this, you can pick up the premium keyboard bundle and fully kit out your Surface Pro while still walking away spending hundreds less than the original retail price of the tablet alone.

Amazon and Microsoft likely discounted this model to make room for the new Snapdragon X2-based Surface Pro models that were just announced, but this is the ultimate way to grab a still-fast Copilot+ PC from Microsoft without the big spend.

Lenovo Chromebook Duet Gen 9 Deal

Scoring big savings on a premium laptop is one thing, but if you want the absolute best value, my heart belongs to one of the most affordable systems on the market, the Lenovo Chromebook Duet (Gen 9). This 11-inch Chromebook is closer to the Microsoft Surface Pro than you might think.

Yes, it’s a tablet design that pairs with a keyboard cover for laptop-style functionality, and it also comes with an active stylus pen right out of the box. You can use the tablet for digital note-taking and doodling on screen. The Duet tablet portion features a sturdy aluminum chassis, a bright, sharp 10.95-inch touch screen, and a welcome 3.5mm headphone jack.

Normally, any system selling for less than $400 requires a bit of compromise, but we have long praised this ChromeOS tablet as an exception to the rule. From the premium construction and bright screen to the lightweight and snappy ChromeOS with Android app support, this is one of the most capable budget systems on the market.

During Prime Day, Amazon has it available for an impressive 33% discount, slicing the already affordable price down to $287. You rarely see any complete 2-in-1 system selling for this cheap, and never one that packs in so much value.
